TeamGB football shirts with the Olympics just around the corner adidas have launched a Commemorative Shirt to celebrate the 2012 London Olympic games.
There has been a variety of comments made as to whether there should even be a Great Britain football team entered in the 2012 Olympics Most of the home nations have reservations about the competition, the English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish football associations do not encourage their players to play in the games but they haven’t yet banned them from representing Great Britain in London 2012.
The manager for the men’s football Team GB will be Stuart Pearce the ex Nottingham Forest and England player, who has managed Manchester City and who is the current England under 21 manager. He has asked all the home nation FA’s to come together and support the TeamGB football squad.
The national football stadiums of the welsh FA – The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Wales and The Scottish FA – Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland.
The age limit for the London Olympics football tournament is 23 years old but each squad of 18 players is allowed 3 over aged players. The names being suggested for these over aged players are David Beckham, Joe Cole and Ryan Giggs. We will have to wait to see who Pearce finally picks, he has a large choice having all four nations’ players to pick from.
The last time Great Britain fielded a football team in the finals of an Olympic event was in 1960.
